Typing was invented by a Chinaman called Lin Teiping in the year 1876. He went on to invent rubber too and also a thing for getting dust out of the corners of mouse cages. He was a clever man who lived to be five foot four. In later life he had a wooden leg in addition to his two normal ones and this allowed him to run at speeds of up to eleven miles an hour which was quite fast for those days and earned him the nickname Speedy Wood Leg Typing Inventor.
